The Role
As a Temp HGV Technician Contractor, you’ll provide essential engineering cover within a fast-paced commercial vehicle workshop in Avonmouth, Bristol. You’ll be responsible for servicing, maintaining, and repairing HGVs, ensuring all work meets DVSA and company standards. Both day and night shifts are available, and you may be able to negotiate your working pattern.
Responsibilities
- Servicing, maintenance, and repairs of HGVs
- Conducting routine inspections and preventative maintenance
- Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults
- Identifying and rectifying vehicle defects
- Preparing vehicles for MOT and statutory inspections
- Completing maintenance documentation accurately
- Ensuring all work complies with DVSA and internal standards
- Minimising vehicle downtime efficiently
- Maintaining high Health & Safety and workmanship standards
Skills and Experience
- NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent heavy vehicle qualification
- Proven experience as an HGV Technician or Heavy Vehicle Mechanic
- Strong servicing, maintenance and diagnostic skills
- Good understanding of DVSA inspection and maintenance requirements
- Ability to work independently in a busy workshop
- Available to start at short notice
- Main dealer or VMU experience is advantageous but not essential
Shift Options
- Day Shift: 06:00 – 18:00
- Night Shift: 18:00 – 06:00
- Preferred pattern: 4-on / 4-off
- Alternative shift arrangements may be considered
