Engineering Manager

Are you an experienced engineering manager ready to step up into a senior, dual-site leadership role? This is your chance to take full responsibility for two busy engineering operations in Merseyside, offering excellent autonomy, challenge, and impact in a key senior management position.

The Role

You will lead engineering performance across two depots in the Merseyside areas, ensuring operational efficiency, compliance, and the highest engineering standards. This is a hands-on management position with responsibility for compliance, workshop performance, budgets, and the leadership of a multi-disciplinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering performance and compliance across two depots
  • Ensure DVSA, operator licence, and company engineering standards are met
  • Oversee vehicle maintenance, inspections, servicing, and repair activities
  • Manage engineering budgets and expenditure
  • Lead, develop, and support a team of around 8 Engineers
  • Manage auxiliary and vehicle presentation staff
  • Maximise fleet availability, reliability, and workshop productivity
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and compliant documentation
  • Drive staff performance, attendance, training, and well-being
  • Sustain high standards of Health & Safety at both sites
  • Work with senior leadership to deliver continuous improvements

Skills and Experience

  • Proven management or supervisory experience in a PCV/PSV engineering environment
  • Transport Manager CPC qualification
  • Minimum Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair (or equivalent)
  • Strong DVSA and operator licence compliance knowledge
  • Proven leadership and people-management abilities
  • Experience managing vehicle maintenance systems and compliance
  • Budgeting and cost-control experience
  • Excellent organisation, leadership, and decision-making skills

You may already be an Engineering Manager, Workshop Manager, Fleet Engineer, Assistant Engineering Manager, or a Supervisor ready for a step up.

Your Team Responsibility

  • 8 Engineers
  • 4 Auxiliary Staff
  • 4 Cleaning / Vehicle Presentation Staff

Effective leadership across both sites is vital, while ensuring top operational standards at your primary depot.
